Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian assured graduating members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) that they will continue to receive assistance from the government to prevent them from sliding back to poverty.
Kasama dyan ang makahanap ng trabaho at masiguro na hindi na kayo babalik muli sa kahirapan,” the DSWD chief said in his message at the roll-out of the ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas’ job fair on Friday (January 31) at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Antonio Lagdameo Jr., delivered the well-wishes of President Marcos to the graduating 4Ps beneficiaries who joined the job fair.
The Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas is an exclusive job fair for 4Ps beneficiaries which was participated in by 94 employers invited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
One of those who was hired on-the-spot was former 4Ps monitored child Jhaycel Mara from Pasay City.
According to Jhaycel, she looks forward to starting her job as a cashier in Sports Central, a sports apparel store, because she wants to help their father who is the sole provider for their family.
“Thank you po dito sa job fair…maraming tao na nangangailangan ng trabaho dahil sa hirap ng pamumuhay ngayon,” Jhaycel said.
Another former 4Ps monitored child who was hired on-the-spot is Mark Benedict Inocencio from Pasay City. He was hired as a bagger for a shopping mall in Manila.
Also present in the event to provide pre-employment and advisory services were the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), Social Security System (SSS), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, and the Office of the President (OP).
