Forty-nine social workers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), and the National Authority for Child Care (NACC), two of the DSWD’s attached agencies, received their Post-Graduate Diploma in Child Protection on Friday (November 29).

Through the scholarship grants provided by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the social workers from the DSWD Central Office and its attached agencies took Post Graduate Diploma on Child Protection cum Case Management (PGDCPCM) for eight months at the Miriam College.

“Born from the shared vision of empowering our social workers with enhanced expertise to address the evolving challenges in the field, the post-graduate diploma course aligns with the DSWD’s efforts to strengthen child protection systems in our country,” Undersecretary for Standards and Capacity Building Group (SCBG) Denise Florence Bernos-Bragas said during a special graduation ceremony at the Henry Sy Innovation Center at Miriam College in Quezon City.

The DSWD official said the scholarship enhanced the ability of agency personnel to provide technical assistance to local social welfare and development offices (LSWDOs).

Undersecretary Bernos-Bragas said the partnership with UNICEF and Miriam College represents a significant step in enhancing the Department’s commitment to protecting children and helping them achieve their full potential.

The new graduates are part of the second group of PGDCPCM scholars.

The first group, which comprised 50 DSWD personnel, graduated on September 30, 2022. # (YADP)
