Typhoon Lando has affected a total of 4,051 families or 16,351 persons from Regions I, II,III, IV-A, V, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR),  as of 11 am today, based on reports received by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) from its disaster teams who continue to monitor the situation.

Of this number,  3,805 families or 15,240 persons are inside 109  evacuation centers managed by the local government units (LGUs).

Likewise, 286 families or 1,442 persons are outside evacuation centers, who are also being served.

DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman assured the evacuees that LGUs have prepositioned food packs for them in the evacuation centers.

A total of ₱398,520 worth of disaster assistance have been provided by the LGUs of Regions I, II, III, and V to the affected families.

Sec. Soliman added that the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the DSWD is ready to augment the resources of LGUs to ensure that the needs of affected families are immediately addressed.

DSWD continues to coordinate with LGUs for the provision of relief augmentation and identification of other appropriate services for the affected families.

Sec. Soliman reiterated that the public should heed the orders for evacuation of their local authorities for their own safety.

“We should not be complacent even if we observe that there is improvement in the weather condition. We should continue to be on alert,” Sec. Soliman said. ###
