The Field Office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region VII  will deploy personnel to help respond in emergency situations during the weeklong celebration of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) from January 24 to 31 in Cebu.

“With the gathering expected to gather millions, we have anticipated possible emergency situations, thus, we have committed 60 staff mostly composed of social workers to help manage help desks where lost and found children will be stationed,”  DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman said.

The DSWD staff will augment personnel from the Department of Social Welfare Services (DSWS) of the Cebu City government who will be assigned in various staging areas for the entire duration of IEC.

During events that gather large number of people, DSWD commits to render assistance through management of help desks and provision of food packs for those who may be stranded.

DSWD also deployed personnel during the papal visit, APEC conference, and the recently-concluded parade of the Black Nazarene. ###
