Welcoming the year 2023, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Eduardo M. Punay commended the exemplary efforts of DSWD employees in the past year, and called for their continued support to the overall operations of the agency in the current year.

In his message during the flag ceremony of the DSWD today, January 3, OIC Punay shared that the Department placed 3rd in rank among the best-performing agencies under the Marcos Administration because of every employee’s hard work and dedication to serve the public, especially during times of crisis and disaster.

“The DSWD is now in a better position than it was six months ago when the President assumed office. A big part of that success was the able leadership of Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo who has done a lot in the Department even for a short period of time,” OIC Punay said.

OIC Punay, likewise, assured the public that the DSWD will continue to pursue the reforms and programs that Secretary Tulfo has initiated during his stewardship at the Department.

Moreover, the Officer-in-Charge also called for the support and cooperation of all DSWD employees in the Central and Field Offices in the fulfillment of the Department’s mandate to uplift the lives of the vulnerable sectors.

“This is the perfect time to demonstrate the power of unity that the President is espousing. Together, we will stand and remain on track toward our ultimate goal to be the best performing agency in the government,” he added.

The DSWD vowed to continue to implement social protection packages for every Filipino. ###
