About Us

The Philippines has been embattling various social issues, injustices, and even endured the aftermath of one disaster to another. Yet amidst all these, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been on the forefront, always to the rescue and at the service of the poorest and most vulnerable sectors of the society.

The presence of the Department was felt even more during the height of the pandemic, wherein DSWD was mandated to provide cash assistance to individuals and families that were greatly affected by the onslaught of COVID-19. Since then, the Department has not stopped in finding and making ways to be of help and service to our countrymen who are most in need.

The DSWD may be the primary government agency mandated to develop, implement and coordinate social protection and poverty-reduction solutions for and with the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged yet, the Department believes in shared vision, responsibility, and efforts for the betterment of the sectors it serves.

Thus, the creation of TatagPH, a flagship campaign engaging the public, development partners, organizations, and other interested entities to contribute to the empowerment, development, and welfare of the sectors and beneficiaries of the DSWD.

TatagPH embodies power and resilience of the Filipinos in overcoming obstacles amidst adversities and challenges that befall their way. Tatag is also a strength in numbers – the more people unite and work together for a common goal, the better the results. Tatag, eventually, could be sustained by these strong, committed, persevering communities.

That’s why, the DSWD is opening its doors to all possible partners for change and development. Through TatagPH, anyone and everyone could support the sector of their choice: women, children, families, elderlies, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), persons with disabilities, and even people seeking reform (rebel returnees and recovering persons who used drugs, etc.).
