Special Assistant to the Secretary (SAS) for Special Projects Maria Isabel Lanada updates reporters on the gains of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) for the year 2024.

At the DSWD Thursday Media Forum on December 5, SAS Lanada also presented the newly-launched Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) packs, which will complement the agency’s relief items for disaster-stricken families and individuals, particularly within the first 24 to 48 hours on the onset of a disaster.

Each RTEF pack contains nutritious pre-cooked meals formulated with the help of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). It will be prepositioned across seaports and other strategically-identified locations starting next year.

The Thursday Media Forum, held weekly at the DSWD Central Office’s New Press Center, was hosted by Special Assistant to the Secretary (SAS) for Communications Raymond Robert Burgos and Traditional Media Service (TMS) Director Aldrine Fermin. It was live streamed over the DSWD Facebook page. (LSJ)
