“The DSWD helps grieving families in crisis situations through the provision of burial assistance under the AICS. This way, they can focus on celebrating the life and legacy of their departed loved ones, instead of worrying where they can get the funds to properly lay to rest their departed family members,” DSWD Undersecretary for Operations Monina Josefina Romualdez said on Thursday (October 31).
From January to September 2024, the agency has already provided more than Php1.7 billion in burial assistance to 165,907 clients across the country.
As the nation observes All Souls Day on November 2, Undersecretary Romualdez extended the agency’s deepest condolences to all the individuals who perished at the height of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine saying that the Department is ready to provide the bereaved families with appropriate services under the AICS as they go through these difficult times in their lives.
Undersecretary Romualdez said agency-issued Guarantee Letters (GLs) can also be accepted in funeral parlors and memorial service providers that have existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the DSWD.
Some of the service providers that accept DSWD-issued GLs from the DSWD Central Office are the Nieto Funeral Services; Mother Jeronima Funeral Services; and the BVL Funeral Homes Services.
Funeral parlors and memorial service providers that accommodate GLs issued by the DSWD Field Office (FO) National Capital Region include the A & J Biglang-Awa Funeral Homes; Bernadette Memorial Chapel and Funeral Services; Biglang Awa PJ Funeral Services; Blue Rose Memorial Services; Bonita Memorial Homes; C. Santiago Memorial Homes; Carenzo Funeral Service; Catalonia Funeral Homes.

Batay sa record, mula January hanggang September ngayong taon, nakapagtala na ang ahensya ng mahigit sa Php1.7 billion na burial assistance. Ang nasabing halaga ay naipaabot sa 165,907 clients sa iba’t-ibang panig sa bansa.
Kasabay nito, nagpahayag naman ng taos pusong pakikiramay si DSWD Undersecretary Romualdez sa mga nasawi dulot ng pananalasa ng bagyong Kristine sa bansa kung saan halos mahigit sa isang daang katao ang naitalang namatay habang marami pa din ang naiulat na nawawala.
Ayon sa opisyal, nakahanda ang ahensya na magbigay ng tulong at serbisyo sa mga kaanak ng mga nasawi sa bagyo sa pamamagitan ng AICS. Ang tulong ay nakabatay sa assessment ng mga social workers.
