The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was among the second batch of government agencies that signed a partnership project with Kalibrr Technology Ventures, an expert in the field of human resource management, for the creation of a recruitment platform which can be used in sourcing talents to complement existing modes of publishing job vacancies in the bureaucracy.

DSWD was represented by Undersecretary for Institutional Development Group, Angelita Gregorio-Medel, during the agreement signing  yesterday in Quezon City.

Dubbed as Government-Kalibrr-Bagumbayani partnership, 10 government agencies have already joined this initiative which was launched in May 2015.

Since its launch, the partnership has generated 38,220 applications for 3,907 job vacancies, making government job vacancies more than 10 times oversubscribed.

Usec. Medel said that DSWD has no problem with sourcing applicants since a lot of people apply for jobs in the Department. The challenge lies in determining whether they can stay in government service for long term since the demands are numerous.

“Working at DSWD can be challenging because we are at the forefront of disaster operations and crisis situations. Those aspiring to work in the Department must have a high level of commitment,” she emphasized.

Kalibrr CEO and Co-founder Paul Rivera said the system hopes to get rid of the prevailing notion that a job seeker must know somebody inside in order to land a job in a government agency.

“We would like to encourage the country’s best and brightest to work in government,” he stressed. ###
