The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured the public on Friday (December 13) that its Field Office-12 (SOCCSKSARGEN) is closely monitoring the situation of families affected by a recent landslide in Sultan Kudarat.
“We received a report that a landslide incident occurred on Wednesday (December 11) in Barangay Pamatingan, Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat which affected 184 families. The landslide was caused by the heavy rainfall brought by the easterlies or localized thunderstorms,” Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, the agency’s spokesperson, said.
In a brief update report to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, DSWD Field Office 12 – SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Director Loreto Cabaya said nine houses were totally damaged. Seven families are currently staying at the barangay gymnasium while two families opted to stay with their relatives.
“The concerned local government unit (LGU) has already provided family food packs (FFPs) to the affected families and our regional office is now consistently coordinating with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Esperanza for any augmentation request,” Asst. Tiniyak ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office-12 (SOCCSKSARGEN) na mahigpit nilang minomonitor ang kalagayan ng mga apektadong pamilya at indibidwal na biktima ng landslide sa Sultan Kudarat.

Batay sa report ni DSWD Field Office 12- SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Director Loreto Cabaya kay DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, siyam na bahay ang nawasak sa naganap na landslide. Pitong pamilya naman ang kasalukuyang nanunuluyan sa barangay gymnasium habang dalawang pamilya ang tumuloy sa kanilang mga kaanak.
