The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) met with partners from the private sector on Wednesday (January 22) to finalize the preparations for the rollout of the ‘Kaagapay online portal,’ the agency’s digital platform that seeks to make donation channels for local social welfare initiatives more accessible to the Filipino people.

Asst. Secretary Ana Maria Paz Rafael of the DSWD’s Partnerships Building and Resource Mobilization presided the meeting and discussed the website which is designed to enable the public for an easier and more convenient way to extend in-kind and financial support to DSWD’s disaster response operations, as well as the agency-managed Center and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs).

Through the portal, the public may also donate to registered and licensed social welfare and development agencies (SWDAs), as well as to local government units’ (LGUs) humanitarian response in times of disasters and emergencies.

The DSWD’s partnership with Maya, Landbank and GCash will allow the seamless processing of cash donation through digital transactions.

For in-kind donations, these will be linked to courier services of the agency’s partners from the logistics industry.

Present in the meeting were representatives from Globe, GCash, Maya, Grab, Lalamove, J&T Express and RAF International Forwarding Philippines. (LSJ)
