The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was among the awardees of the UNTV’s Public Service Award for the social protection agency’s “unwavering commitment, dedication, and exemplary service to underprivileged communities.”

DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao accepted a plaque of recognition on behalf of the Department during the broadcast station’s 20th Anniversary celebration held on Tuesday (November 12) in Quezon City.

Asst. Secretary Dumlao, who was also a resource speaker at the UNTV’s Public Service Forum, discussed the various programs and services the DSWD is implementing in her PowerPoint presentation.

The DSWD spokesperson stressed the need for a whole-of-nation and whole-of-society collaboration to help the disadvantaged sectors.

“Kailangan namin ang suporta at kooperasyon ng national, provincial, and local governments, the local social welfare and development officers, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, private organizations, and all other stakeholders,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao told the guests at the UNTV Anniversary celebration.

Asst. Secretary Dumlao emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to overcome the challenges faced by every Filipino and to pursue a shared vision of building a just and humane society “where no one is left behind.”

“I urge everyone to remain steadfast in our commitment to help the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized and make meaningful and impactful changes in their lives,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.

The other awardees recognized by the UNTV were several government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, doctors, medical societies, private and public hospitals and clinics, patient groups, and other private companies and organizations. (AKDL)
