Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian received the highest satisfaction rating among the members of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s Cabinet as shown by the latest Tangere survey released on Tuesday (October 29).

Along with Secretary Gatchalian, who made it into the list and continue to set the standard for cabinet performance, were Secretary of Education Sonny Angara who came in at second with 60.73 percent rating; Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro Jr. with 55.87 percent; Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Jonvic Remulla with 53.73 percent; and Secretary of Finance Ralph Recto with 52.87 percent.

Based on the poll result collected by the Tangere from October 23 to 25, Secretary Gatchalian garnered a 61.07 percent of satisfaction rate, gaining high rating from respondents within the socio-economic cluster of D who comprise the lower middle class and E who belong to the “masa.”

The survey was conducted through the Tangere’s mobile-based respondent application, gathering a total of 1,500 participants across the Philippines.

According to Martin Penaflor, chief executive officer (CEO) of Tangere, stratified random sampling was used for the survey with the respondents coming from their 1 million user database.

“The app is our data gathering tool and the survey was done online using a 1,500 sample size with 2.5 percent margin of error and 95 percent confidence level,” Peñaflor said on Wednesday (October 30).

Penaflor said the survey design was based on the Philippine population distributed as follows: National Capital Region, 12 percent; Southern Luzon and Bicol Region, 22 percent; Mindanao, 23 percent; Visayas, 20 percent; and Northern and Central Luzon, 23 percent.

“It’s our proven methodology accepted by institutions such as MORES (Marketing Opinion and Research Society), PANA (Philippine Association of National Advertisers) and the Ads Standards Council. The online survey results are comparable to our on-the-ground since we also do face-to-face surveys,” Peñaflor explained.
