The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) thanked GCash for its logistical support for the agency’s continuous relief operations following Super Typhoon Pepito.

Asst. Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Irene Dumlao said the digital wallet company pledged to deploy a total of six trucks to the agency’s National Resource Operation Center (NROC) in Pasay City.

“On behalf of our Secretary Rex Gatchalian and everyone from the DSWD, we extend our gratitude and appreciation to GCash for this support. Malaking bagay po itong mga trucks na pinahiram nila para mas mapalawak ang ating logistical capacity,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao, the agency’s spokesperson, said.

Of the six trucks, the two ten-wheelers already arrived on Wednesday (November 20) morning at NROC and were immediately loaded with 1,700 family food packs (FFPs) each.

These supplies will be particularly dispatched to the Cagayan Valley region, one of the hardest-hit areas following the series of storms that hit the country.

“Bago pa man makaalis si Pepito, GCash reached out to us, asking what help they could possibly provide to aid our kababayan. We told them that logistical assistance would be helpful for our continuous relief response.

From there, they said they could deploy up to six trucks,” the DSWD spokesperson explained.

The DSWD official noted that GCash and its affiliate companies consistently provide valuable assistance during disasters and crises.

Following Typhoon Kristine, Globe and GCash employees volunteered at the NROC, the agency’s main production center.

Aside from GCash, Asst. Secretary Dumlao also thanked the World Food Programme (WFP) for its continued logistical support to the agency.

“Likewise, we are grateful to the World Food Programme, na parati ring nagpapahiram sa atin ng kanilang trucks to expedite our deliveries, lalo na sa panahon ng mga sunod-sunod na disasters at malalakas na bagyo,” the DSWD official said.

Asst. Secretary Dumlao stated that the support from these companies represents a whole-of-society approach, which includes collaboration among national government agencies and local government units (LGUs).

The DSWD official said this approach has enabled the country to address the needs of families affected by disasters.

“Sa panahon ng sakuna, bayanihan is a much-needed force.

Itong mga tulong na natatanggap natin mula sa private sector at maging sa iba’t-ibang ahensiya ng pamahalaan, iyan ang dahilan kung bakit walang patid ang paghahatid natin ng agarang tulong sa kabila ng magkakasunod na sakuna,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.# (LSJ)

Ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary of the Disaster Response and Management Group (DRMG) at Spokesperson Irene Dumlao, ang digital wallet company o GCash ay nagpaabot ng tulong sa ahensya sa pamamagitan ng pag-deploy ng anim na truck sa National Resource Operations Center (NROC) sa Pasay City.

Ang mga relief supplies ay ipapadala sa Cagayan Valley region, isa sa mga lugar na grabeng nasalanta ng magkakasunod na bagyo na nanalasa sa bansa.

Bukod sa deployment ng mga delivery trucks, boluntaryo ding tumulong ang mga empleyedo ng Globe at Gcash sa page-empake ng mga relief supplies sa National Resource Operations Center (NROC), sa Pasay City noong kasagsagan ng bagyong Kristine.

Kasabay nito, muling nagpasalamat si Assistant Secretary Dumlao sa World Food Programme (WFP) dahil sa walang sawang suporta ng mga ito sa ahensya.
