International and local development partners expressed their support in translating policies of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) into action during the 2024 DSWD Partnership Forum at the Space at One Ayala in Makati on Thursday (December 5).
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the Department, together with local and foreign partners, has been working tirelessly to ensure that policies are not only developed but are implemented in ways that are context-specific, sustainable, and impactful.“ The DSWD understands that our country is diverse and constantly evolving. That is why we continue to innovate our approach to be dynamic and responsive,” Secretary Gatchalian said in his message.

The DSWD chief said the forum is an avenue for engaging in dialogues for potential collaborations.

“Let us take this opportunity to discuss not just the policies that guide our work but how we can translate these policies into concrete actions,” the DSWD chief said.

One of the partners who expressed support to the DSWD and the Philippines is Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency HK Yu.

“As the Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, it is an absolute honor and privilege to take part in this partnership forum for the department that I respect and I admire greatfully—-the DSWD,” Ambassador HK Yu said.

The Australian ambassador added: “It is great to see many partners here today because it tells me that the DSWD is objective. It is not their objective alone but a collective objective of the whole of the Philippines.”

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director in the Philippines Pavit Ramachandran also expressed the ADB’s gratitude for the long-standing partnership with the agency.

“We, at ADB, have a long history of supporting the DSWD that was to bring meaningful and lasting change to the lives of the poor and vulnerable. Let me first take this opportunity to thank DSWD and  Secretary Rex for the long-standing partnership over the past 15 years to promote social protection here in the Philippines,” Country Director Ramachandran said.

Country Director Ramachandran cited some of the programs of the DSWD that the ADB supported and continuously supporting, including the Walang Gutom Program.

“We are very pleased to have supported the pilot of the Walang Gutom Program in five geographic locations and we are now in the process of scaling up,” the ADB country director pointed out.

In his message, Ayala Foundation Trustee and President Tony Lambino expressed his appreciation to the DSWD for partnering with them in producing the newly-launched photo storybook that showcases success stories of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries.

“We are so proud to partner with the DSWD to put together a book and a travelling exhibit on 4Ps,” the Ayala Foundation president said.

The partnership forum was held to introduce foundations, private organizations, and other partners of the DSWD in providing social welfare initiatives with international development partners for possible co-implementation of programs and services. # (YADP)

Nagpahayag ng suporta sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ang International at local development partners nito para sa maayos at makabuluhang implementasyon ng mga programa ng ahensya.

Sa ginanap na 2024 DSWD Partnership Forum sa Space at One Ayala sa Makati City nitong Huwebes (December 5) sinabi ni DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian na ang ahensya kabilang ang local at foreign partners nito ay nagtutulungan upang tiyakin ang maayos na polisiya at implementasyon nito.
